Amid the whirlwind of a political campaign, Thanksgiving brings a perfect moment to pause and reflect on the many things in life, big and small, for which to be grateful. If you don’t mind, I’d like to share a few of mine with you.
This year, I am thankful for:
My family, whose love and support are proving to be boundless.
This city, where new people and new ideas are so warmly welcomed.
The fact that the issues being raised by people across the Ward are mostly issues of success. Where and how to grow, how to make a good life better: we are fortunate that these are some of our most pressing concerns.
The red-tailed hawk I saw perched on a pole outside Perimeter Institute on Friday, reminding me that the beauty of nature really is all around us waiting to be seen.
The chance to connect with you, whether it’s on your doorstep, at the full-house Rec Complex debate (thanks for coming!), via the Rogers TV Ward 7 debate (which you can watch here) or over a cup of tea on the Facebook series “Tea with Hannah Marie” (which you can watch here).
Most of all, I’m thankful for your support. Running for politics is a thrilling, exhausting, rewarding adventure and I honestly could not do it without fantastic volunteers and generous donors.
Thanks for sharing your time, your ideas and your passion. I truly believe that, together, we can build a healthy, vibrant city that everyone can call home.
