Six things I'm grateful for this Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!.jpg

Amid the whirlwind of a political campaign, Thanksgiving brings a perfect moment to pause and reflect on the many things in life, big and small, for which to be grateful. If you don’t mind, I’d like to share a few of mine with you.

This year, I am thankful for:

  • My family, whose love and support are proving to be boundless.

  • This city, where new people and new ideas are so warmly welcomed.

  • The fact that the issues being raised by people across the Ward are mostly issues of success. Where and how to grow, how to make a good life better: we are fortunate that these are some of our most pressing concerns.

  • The red-tailed hawk I saw perched on a pole outside Perimeter Institute on Friday, reminding me that the beauty of nature really is all around us waiting to be seen.

  • The chance to connect with you, whether it’s on your doorstep, at the full-house Rec Complex debate (thanks for coming!), via the Rogers TV Ward 7 debate (which you can watch here) or over a cup of tea on the Facebook series “Tea with Hannah Marie” (which you can watch here).

  • Most of all, I’m thankful for your support. Running for politics is a thrilling, exhausting, rewarding adventure and I honestly could not do it without fantastic volunteers and generous donors.

Thanks for sharing your time, your ideas and your passion. I truly believe that, together, we can build a healthy, vibrant city that everyone can call home.

Happy Thanksgiving!
